I'm looking to buy a product on line called 'Kecap or Ketjap Manis' It's like soy sauce only it's slightly sweeter and thicker, does anyone know where I can buy this online? I've been checked through all sorts of Indonesian and Chinese supermarkets and the only one I can find doesn't have any in stock. P.S. I don't want to make it from scratch, Please help!! Ta Much

Where can I find star anise and molasses, are they indonesian or chinese ingredients?
Star Anise is just an Asian spice that you should find readily available and perhaps you call molasses "dark treacle". I hope this helps.

Thanks for your imput Janetx it does help a little but the reason I was asking is that we get noodles from our local chinese and they have almost got a kind of soy sauce gravy through them so I found it it was kecap manus but I don't think syrup or treacle will have the same effect but I appreciate your help, ta
You can make it from scratch using american red ketchup, dark brown sugar and soy sauce and any spices you want,Mix together to your taste in a saucepan and cook it down until it is as thick as you desire. It will taste the same as the kecap. Hope this helps.
