Where has Morning Star Vegetarian Bacon gone?

I use to buy it from Morrisons supermarket but they've stopped selling it.

I've since tried Sainsburys, Tesco and Asda but they don't sell it either.

Have Morning Star stopped making it?

The shops in this country stopped selling this product.Something to do with Gm foods.I use to like qourn bacon, but they changed it so you could freeze it.Tastes bloody horrible now.Tesco's sell there own make...6/10....or you can buy redwoods bacon(from health shops).(:)

Thanks for the info.

I've found out that Holland & Barrett sell an alternative by Redwood called Cheatin' Rashers.

Funny how Walker's Smokey Bacon Crisps are suitable for vegetarians, but their Cheese & Onion aren't! (They contain animal rennet).

Sorry to correct you Heathfield, but I think you will find most of walkers crisps, including cheese&onion are suitable for vegetarians.( :-)

Stopped due to GM? Shame! Never did get to try their back bacon version.

I've tried Tescos - low taste, Quorn - even worse. Realeat = OK but still a long way from "bacon".

Next to find Redwoods Cheatin variety.

Found this recipe on the web - rave reviews:

Ingredients (use vegan versions): 1 lb firm Tofu, cut into strips shaped like bacon 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast 2 tablespoons tamari/shoyu 1 teaspoon Wrights (or other brand) liquid smoke. 1 tablespoon oil (something neutral, not olive or sesame)

Directions:Fry tofu strips on low or medium heat until they are crispy on the outside. The best way to do this is to lay them in the pan in the oil and let them sit for at least 10 minutes, simmering. They should turn easily after that. Turn them and give them another 10 minutes on the other side.Mix the tamari/shoyu soy sauce with the liquid smoke first, then take the pan off the heat. Pour the liquid smoke/tamari into the pan and stir the tofu so all sides are coated, then sprinkle the yeast over all, stir some more, over the heat, until the liquid is gone and the tofu is covered with sticky yeast.
