Hi All!

I have in-laws visiting this weekend and am planning on making lasagne. I make it all from scratch and am quite proud of it even if I do say so myself, but I was just wondering if anyone had any hints or tips for maybe adding or making it taste just that bit different/special? Maybe something that isn't obvious or would never have thought of adding.

I'm all out to impress so any suggestions greatfully received :o)

Thanx xx

i do use ricotta and gruryere in my cheese sauce, aswell as eggs....
well done on making it from scratch...we always do too, its how mama used to make it!! i use ricotta and mascarpone, i also sometimes add some roasted veg(peppers, courgettes and aubergines) in between the layers.
I always add a jar of sun-dried tomatoes in the middle and before I add the top layer of lasagne and cheese I add raw red onion cut into segments.
I like using a mixture of both green and white lasagne sheets.

Paprika in the tomato sauce!
You either love 'em or hate 'em...olives.
I presume that you use grated nutmeg in your recipe but if you don't you should try it.
Add a tablespoon of brown sauce, like Daddie's or HP, to the mince when you're cooking it . The vinegar cooks off in a few minutes, and it imparts a really rich flavour.

If it is a traditional version then a teaspoon of brown sugar in the tomato sauce.

Alternative version which is fab for another day is chicken in a white wine sauce mixed with small florettes of broccoli & made with the pasta sheets in the same way. Yum!

Last time I made Lasagne, I made a meat and a fish one.
While both were eaten (there were six of us), everybody kept on telling me how great the fish lasagne had been!

have you triad bacon in the mince or even mattersons spicy saugage
