Is there an easy way of softening icecream when it comes out of the freezer, so it is easier to scoop out?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I may be quite wrong but i think it's the high water to sugar ratio in some icecreams that makes them so rock hard. I make my own and I find the higher the fat and sugar content, the quicker it softens. Eggs, cream and sugar!
I've also invested in a solid scoop, as my spoons were bending. I found one that cost less than �1 from Sainsbury's basic range. No need to wait so long now...
