Single cream won't whip.You need whipping cream or double cream...I have no idea what heavy cream is ..some american term? Do you say heavy cream for our double cream ?

i think heavy cream may be the same as double cream as it is 'whippable'

Aha...thank you ED ..I have never heard of heavy cream.
Funny term....conjures up visions of lugging a milk churn back from the supermarket. !
