Traditionally diners work from the outside - in, so you have your soup spoons or knife and fork / spoon for starters on the outside, and the cutlery for the main course next to the plate, with a knife for breadroll and butter on the side plate, which could be to the left of each diner.
dont for-get that the blades of the knives always face the dinner plate and the dessert spoon always faces the left .good luck
