I have half a bottle of red and half a bottle of white wine left over. Does anyone have any simple recipes that i could use them in? The white was cheap and not so nice to drink and the red has been open for too long to drink

I was going to bin them but thought I might try cooking with them first. Any ideas?

There is a saying along the lines of - if you wouldn't drink the wine, don't cook with it - it stands to reason that if it didn't taste nice before, its unlikely to taste any better when cooked. I guess you could try making wine vinegar with it.
Mix 'em togethar and have a full bottle of Ros
Oh! Oh! Naz - the horror!
You can use the red wine in a dark onion gravy with shallots/ onions, mushrooms and chicken (basic Coq au vin) delicious, or...

lightly fry a diced chicked breast with onions and garlic, till slightly brown, add any other veg, ie. leek...add w. wine and simmer for 10 mins... use as much wine as you like, slowly add dbl cream and mix, making sure the heat isn't high or it will curdle. Add salt and plenty of black crushed pepper and pour the whole lot onto some tagliatelli or whatever pasta you prefer... Add roughly chopped coriander and enjoy!!!! X
Put into smaller containers and freeze for future use in cooking (doesn't freeze solid but goes more like a sorbet & you can use it straight from the freezer). Put small amount of the red into chilli or bolognese or any red meat casserole type dishes and the white into chicken dishes.
Forgot to mention that if you freeze the wines into ice cube trays or bags you can use them like stock cubes.
Add a bit of the red wine to Spaghetti Bolognese to give it flavour.
I agree with Hapus- bin them. Life's too short.
Yep, as Floyd once said "If a wine is not good enough to drink, it sure isn't good enough to cook with!!!"

WPB pronto!!
There's only one thing to do with them - pour them down the sink as quick as you like.
