I remember there used to be a decent sized piece of cod in each portion.

I bought some the other day and the fish, no longer cod, was about the size of a fish finger without its breaded coating.

Is this an example of Wagon Wheel syndrome (things are smaller now than they used to be) or has the amount of fish been reduced?

Shrinkflation at work.

It's not only cod in parsley sauce, Sandy  ....  everything seems to be smaller and costs more.  The only biscuits I see staying the same size are Tunnocks wafers, etc.

And strangely enough, Tunnocks seem to manage to keep the price stable too.

Strokes chin and wonders, not for the first time if 'they' are all perpetrating a massive scam on top of the previous one where we all had to clap on a thursday or risk being outed as ungrateful.

UK cod stocks are severely depleted, meaning that any cod that processors can get hold of is likely to come the North East Arctic or Icelandic waters instead.  That adds to the cost, meaning that cod is now quite an expensive fish (as any chip shop owner can testify to).  So Young's, which seems to be almost the only firm still selling boil-in-the-bag fish in parsley sauce, has been forced to switch to using Alaskan pollock.  (Many cafés and restaurants, such as those within Morrisons stores, have now done the same).

However Iceland are still using cod in their own-brand product:

At least we longer have patronising/sexist ads for the stuff!

Oh dear, that wouldn't do now. ^

Seems right to me.

The ladies need to keep their strength up. It's all about healthy eating these days, and avoiding over processed food.

Who remembers the man in a white coat telling a wee Scottish lady how to use Flash to wash a floor?

Patronising, or what?

I don't remember the boil in the bag with parsley sauce cod being breadcrumbed.

My grandmother used to like it in her later years

It wasn't breaded.  Imagine a fish finger with the coating removed.  That would be the size of the fish portion in the boil in the bag now.

But... how would she know otherwise ?

Sorry, misunderstood your OP
