I thought Kerala was a state in India. I've never heard of a vegetable called same. I know that there are recipes eg Kerala curries but, as far as I know, these are curries typical of those cooked in Kerala, where I believe the cuisine is quite hot.
Any number of Kerala recipes on Google, all named after the Indian state.
I agree that kerala is region of India. Had the most delicious dish in a kerala restaurant in southend on sea called cheera chicken. I'm desperate to go back as it was the best indian dish i've ever had. Trouble is i live in Cumbria so it'd be cold by the time i got it back. Tried to re create it myself after searching internet for recipes similar. I just couldn't seem to find the exact recipe.
Forgot to mention, as squitle bears out, Kerala cuisine uses lots of fish, coconut and fruit in cooking, as well as being hot. Gorgeous!

Hmm - seems I was misinformed about the name. The veg in question is about the same size as a small cucumber, lighter green in colour with a very wrinkly/textured skin...

My mum grows a lot of this.
It's delicious sliced thin and fried with onions and garlic or stuffed and curried. But I think it might be an aquired taste because it's quite bitter. It's also good for diabetes. Tea made from the leaves of this plant is also good for lowering the blood glucose level. I once conducted an experiment to prove this, and sure enough it did lower my blood sugar after drinking the tea.
