Calling chocoholics
0 Answers
It was perhaps three years ago that yet another health scare had a profound impact on the world of chocolates. As a result of some extremely sensitive tests being carried out, tiny traces of a compound could be found in things like chocolate. The substance of interest had apparently been shown to cause ill effects when force-fed laboratory rats consumed several times their own body weight of the stuff (my poetic licence). What bothers me is that some ten years ago Terry's (now part of the Suchard group, I think) used to make a 75g bar called BITZ, which they then discontinued at a last price of some 35p, although it was still sold in 150g size under Sainsbury's own name at around 85p (not bad at all) - all sizes and prices quoted from memory. But now, Sainsbury's axed it in the name of public safety. However, Terry's still market it to this day under the name of TWILIGHT in tiny tablets and at a comparatively exorbitant price. The stuff is in my opinion among the best chocolates available (excluding such paradise-bombs as Puccini's genuine chocolate hugely expensive but worth it, if you happen to be in Amsterdam). Who wants to join me in lobbying Terry's for a return of proper bars (no serious addict wants to fiddle with unwrapping tiny tablets, let alone putting up with the unfair price penalty) ?
