i once left mine in the fridge for a fortnight- more accident than design, though!

oh i thought it was months, was worried i was leaving it late!
once its actually cooked and cooled leave it in an airtight tin somewhere dark then you want to leave it a few months.
urinate on it - make it faster
One of the really old fashioned housekeeepers round here announced, last week, that the chrimbo cake was in it 's container and would be 'topped up' with spirits and turned every week from now til the big day. I nearly fell over after consuming a slice last year!
The mix needs to be left for approx 24 hours, once the cake has been made, you need to put a little bit of alcohol into it to keep it moist and leave it for a minimum of 6 weeks.
