Thanks for the answers, but, to clarify, this is oli not animal fat - it is not going to harden. Does this make a difference? The plastic bottle option sounds the best bet however - just to be sure!

I have looked at a site for disposal of cooking oil.. put it in the bottle and put it in your household waste.

There is one small niggle I've just thought of - we recycle plastic bottles here and aren't supposed to put them in the 'non-recyclable' bin.......
Thankyou I`ve never laughed so much, cheered my day. This is making Gone with the Wind look like a 2minute film. I got the information from the Heredfordshire Council Site the other suggestion was to soak it into kichen roll or put it on your compost bin.

Glad to cheer your day, peapod. I'm going to sneak the plastic bottle full of oil into my neighbour's bin, (we don't like him much!) then he'll be the one to be told off by the recycling spies.
