Anybody get the fish man at your local pub? He used to come round selling prawns , whelks, cockles etc from a basket. when I lived in Manchester. They were well soaked in vinegar, but delicious (??) after a few pints

my dad used to work for them we live in manchester i was only a litttle girl at the time but i always remember our fridge packed with the stuff at weekends

I'm also from the Manchester area and I got told by my local pub landlady that they don't sell them anymore due to food hygiene regulations Because they were walking round pubs for hours at a time with seafood stored at room temperature

I used to have a round in the Chadderton/Oldham area in the 70's.
Trouble was I used to spend half my commission on potted shrimps and the Kipper's! The rest went on petrol getting to and from the Sale area every weekend! Oh! those good old days.
