Does this meat justify it's hefty yuppie pricetag? Is there a clear difference in taste and quality than traditional pork or is it over rated?

I think pork is the only meat that doesnt differ in quality noticably between breeds! Save your money!
Wild boar doesn't taste anything like pork. it's a tough meat so needs to be marinated and cooked long and slow. Personally I don't like it as it's got too much of a strong flavour. I don't buy it we get a piece now and again from the local hunt.
Pork and Wild Boar are completely different. Wild Boar is a dark meat more like game as it is strong and earthy tasting. It is an acquired taste most definitely.
Boar, if cooked right, can have the tough texture of a pork fillet, but with a much stronger flavour, with an almost bacon-like taste.

Very nice indeed i would recommend it :o)
