Double Cream

I now live in France and I have lots of recipes, English and French, that use double cream, but I can't find it in France. What can I use instead? There must be something, French chefs use cream all the time!

Delia Smith prefers to use creme fraiche in all her cooking where double cream is normally used.

This is widely available throughout France
If you're looking for cream to do desserts, the majority of the french whip up cr�me fra�che with sugar (often adding sucre vanill�) and sometimes add egg white for a lighter cream.
could try whiping single cream?

Use Elle & Vire "Creme Entiere de Normandie" carton cream. Usually in (French) supermarkets adjacent to the milk. Whips just like double cream!
