Can anyone suggest low-fat alternatives to have with my afternoon tea - Nothing that involves cooking please. I don't like fruits and I'd prefer something I can have my marmite with. Thank you!

Oatcakes.
eeeww @ oatcakes!! Tescos do low fat Cream Crackers which are LOVELY with Marmite (my favourite) ;o) Yum Yum :oP
dont do that stupid diet its bad for you and makes your breath stink not to mention when u do finally eat bread again you will put the weight back on immediatly . Do normal exercise like walking and youll not only loose the weight but you will feel un unbelievablly better and it will have more long term benifits .
Well, I dont know bout Marmite, as Im not a big fan, but with just about anything else (like dipping sauces, cheese, etc) pita bread works really well, and its not as damaging to diets as bread is. I agree with gnasher to an extent, you do have to have the exercise to lose weight, but if you try to separate what you eat, as in try to avoid mixing meat and potatoes - try some veg with the meat instead. Basically cut down on the carbs a bit and dont mix too much into one meal - and you'll find that you'll lose a few pounds very, very quickly. Its my lose-that-little-bit-before-going-on-holiday scheme :) Best of luck!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Just a note tho: I'm not going on Atkins - I can't as I'm vegetarian and hate eggs and so would probably starve on it! I'm giving it up as I love bread so much that I consume loads and the only way I won't eat it is if I don't buy it. Plus I've noticed it bulks up my tummy more than anything else. I gym everyday and otherwise my diet is healthy with plenty of veggies.. so just needed alternatives for bread.

Crackers sound safe (I used to be addicted to them - like-handfuls-of-6-at-a-time-addiced- so am scared about bringing them in the house again so will keep looking for other ideas)

I love oatcakes but they're quite calorific and would have the same problem as I do with crackers. Think I'll go with ricecakes: can imagine them good with Marmite and not dangerous as they are not too appealing to snack on on their own.

I will also definitely try pitta - hadn't considered that!

Thanks all again!

I fully agree. When you think about it bread these days is far from a quality product as is really just water, flour and preservatives. I don't know about you but putting glue straight into your tummy will surely make it expand. You don't have to do the Aitkens diet but try to keep your carb in take to under 60 grams a day. As for alternatives knock bread and the head and see just how much better you feel, you'll never go back.
If bread makes you bloat up, could you be wheat sensitive? This would also explain your cracker addiction. Oat cakes do not containe wheat, (surprise!!) are a dense form of carb and fibre rich too, so you might not have the eat the whole packet issue.
Bad news that you dont like fruit cos my fav snack would be sliced apple spread with Marmite.......pure bliss..drool!

Woof - I think the reason bread lands right on my tummy is because I just eat lots of it. How would cracker-addiction be explained by wheat intolerance?

Trudi - had to comment on Apple with Marmite!?! This I will have to try :)

I only typed it and had to dash off and have some...what did you think?? I also like cucumber and Marmite, must be something to do with the cold moist v smooth salty taste! Oh dear this is all getting a bit lascivious! xx

Forgot to get apples! [see? they're just not priority] but will get back to you when I do... I'm always up for sweet/salty mix of taste i.e.honey and cheese YUM :)
corn snaps are better than rice cakes (they taste of something!), barbeque flavour snacker jacks are good tho, rice bread might be an aquired taste and a little expensive usually but I did find a really good one in tesco "free from" range - works wonders with marmite!
