(and I hate myslef for it!), And I never felt I was losing out on any proteins, in fact I put on weight when I became a veggie!. I didn't gorge on nuts or dried fruit or anything, but just cooked normal meals but without the meat or veggie alternatives such as vegatable lasagne.
Remember there are millions of Hindus and Bhuddists who have never eaten meat and probably care not a jot about their daily protein intake...They just eat normal food that happens to be veggie!
Enjoy your meat free existence...now where did I leave that Chorizo?
lentils of all kinds (red split, green, etc) are a great source of protein (tho not a complete protein like meat). I used them as a source of protein for my baby before he was old enough to try chicken and red meat )and they are recommended in al the baby cook books). You can make all sorts of great dishes using them - casseroles, burgers, soups, dips etc. Good luck with Veggie-hood.....I'd miss bacon sarnies WAY too much.
