My housemates think I'm mad but I'm sure there used to be a plain 'Cheese' flavour of Nik Naks around in the early 90's. They came in an orange packet and were lovely. Whatever happened to them?

No - the 'Cheese' flavour was stronger - more like Cheese Wotsits cheese flavouring.
yes there were cheese nik naks! and now they are cream cheese but they aren't the same.
I think I might have eaten them all....
You can still buy them, saw them on sale last week
I have seen the recently, but strangely only in vending machines, don't ask me why.
Findlay you are indeed right. (well as far as I can remember anyway) I'm sure Nik Naks used to made by a company called Sooner Snacks and the Nice 'N' Spicy flavour came in a brown bag. They also produced a cheese version totally different from the Golden Wonder Cream 'N' Cheesy version. Both of the original Sooner Snacks flavours were far superior to the new Golden Wonder flavours, in my opinion. Probably full of E numbers right enough (",)
There were indeed Cheese flavour Nik Naks, Very Tasty indeed. However, the most superb flavour had to be the Bacon ones - for some reason these were not in production for very long?! I believe the company was Spooner Foods. Is there a Nik Nak fan club? I have been indulging since the early eighties!!!
I know I'm late to this party, but I can confirm that Nik Naks produced a "Tangy Cheese" flavour, but I have not seen these around for years.

However if you are desperate for a fix then I can recommend an alternative from the US. Cheetos Crunchy - these are basically identical to Nik Naks - I've added a link to a UK supplier. Enjoy!!!
