The best I've encountered are in California - the Berkeley/Oakland area. However, there are some excellent ones in Texas as well, and the Tex-Mex additions make it even better. The Burritos I've had in Mexico were not as good. I admit though, I've never had a good burrito that was made by an Anglo. So I guess Hispanic residents of the US, particularly Texas, are a good place to go. Personally, I like the whole Chimichanga experience (deep-fried burrito). The Texas Burritos tend to have more interesting ingredients - like carnitas or lime or tongue. They are spicier too with better-quality chiles. California burritos are just really big with lots of ingredients notably including rice, which is really just filler in my opinion.
I would agree that California has some of the best burritos ever. My favorite is a place called Las Barcas in Huntington Beach, CA . My favorite used to be in Fresno, called Javiers but I think it's closed down now.
I'm stuck in England where you can't get a decent Burrito for love nor money and you are making me hungry!
In the Mission District of San Francisco.I know what I'm talking about.
There's only one place for the best burrito in the WORLD... The Mission District in San Francisco. The best I have found here are at the Taqueria Can-Cun at 2288 Mission. The biggest and best there are... and they are right across the street from me..
I agree - Taqueria Can-Cun is excellent; I love the burritos in the Mission. In Berkeley there's one called Taqueria La Familia which makes incredible fish burritos. MMMMMM! And Cactus Taqueria, also in Berkeley, is great too.
By the way, burritos were invented in San Francisco - not Mexico - so there's a reason the best burritos are made here!
