Why do some people come back with stupid answers to a perfectly simple question. You can buy the ordinary blenders for liquidising then you can get another one which is called a Smoothie Kenwood do one and Breville and they are for smoothies and juicing so what I want to know is what is the difference apart from the price as the smoothie makers seem to be much more expensive. Thanks for any sensible answers .
Actually, Those answers contain more than just an element of truth, Windilla.
The only difference is that smoothie makers have a tap fitted, since they'll be usually used for liquidising fruit and veg.
Blenders can be used to crush ice and nuts, or chop veg, for example, when a tap would be pretty useless. But there's absolutely no reason at all why a blender can't be used to make smoothies.
From my experience, my blender never made the liquid thin enough to drink. It was good for soups etc but no matter how much I blended the fruit, it was very thick and not easily drunk.
My smoothie machine however makes it much thinner (like fruit juice) and drinkable
