Do you make a point of having pancakes on pancake day? Do you eat them other times of the year?

When I was little we only had them once a year on Shrove Tuesday, but since I moved out of home I discovered you can eat things when you like and have pancakes probably monthly now!

I like lemon and sugar, or maple syrup, or strawberry jam. What do you do with yours? :-)

Yep! I love 'em!

we eat them on the day and usually every few weeks too. We usually add either maple syrup, sugar or lemon juice. Mini Boo likes them with icecream too.
Hi natalie.
We too probably have pancakes once a month. We all have different tastes so I have lemon & sugar, Mr O has instant gravy (yuk) and the 3 Junior O's have maple syrup, golden syrup and honey on theirs.
I buy the ready made packs from tesco and we love them with mincemeat (the mincepie sweet one) and ice cream! it is gorgeous, but my youngest son just likes strawberry jam on his.
I am not a lover of pancakes for some unknown reason.

But I do make them on pancake day and we have been known to have them several times throughout the year.

My boys love them with maple syrup, it's much too sweet!
Thanks dot!
I've just been looking at half a jar of mincemeat left over from Xmas & wondering what to do with it.
I'll give that one a go tonight.
Oh Nat, I love pancakes too, although I only remember it's Shrove Tuesday 'cos the grandkids tell me so!

I like them with either lemon, maple syrup & ice cream, so it's a good job we only have them one a year!

Hope your kitties are okay Nat. Milly had her op (spayed) this morning & I'm due to phone the vet at 2:00 to see how she is, bless.

Waves to all....
I have a jar of mincemeat left over too Mrs O, so will be up to my wrists in flour this week, making some more on my infamous mince pies!
grabs her coat and heads for smudge's house
am I the only one who prefers freshly squeezed orange on mine?

I never make them anymore though...neither I nor anyone I know can make them like my mum did (or yorkshire puds)
I am pancake intolerant.
never had them since i moved out! and i used to love them with sugar and lemon juice or bannanas with nuts and melted chocolate, maybe this year..........
1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. Broccoli & Cheese Sauce on the first, followed by traditional sugar & Lemon.
All are welcome Mrs. O & I'll expect you'll be putting orders in for 'em after you've tried 'em! ;o}

Mmm, never thought of freshly squeezed orange - I'll give that a try this year.
Thanks smudge.
My baking is good apart from my pastry which always has the consistency and taste of cement!
Ha, ha, Mrs O'! I bet your mince pies are very tasty. Let's put it this way, I bet you never throw any out to the birds - that would be a test in itself though!!!! He, he!
Must be off, as Milly's ready for collection! Amazing as I only dropped her off at 9:30am!

See you later..........

I bet mini B00 gets in a right mess doens't she? :-)
(I'm saying that like I don't of course, I can't remember the last time I wore a top that didn't end up with food being dropped either on the boob or the bump....lol)

Dot, I like the fact that you had to point out iut was sweet mince meat in case anyone thought you might be spreading minced beef and ice cream on your pancakes! Mmmmm

Smudge - have you phoned the vets yet? What did they say? I bet she is all sleepy now, you will have her home soon X

Monkeyeyes - brocolli and cheese, yum. On pancakes though? Sounds horrible but I think I will try it.

So far I think mccfluff has the winner for me with chocolate, nuts and banana :-)
lol, yeah natalie, she always gets covered in food at every meal time. As we speak she's playing outside (sunny today for a change!) with noodles in her hair!!

And have to say, I like the idea of bananas and chocolate sauce with them too.

Now I know you can have savoury pancakes, but it just seems wrong.
Mrs Monkeyeys doesn't like the 'traditional' pancake filling.........so, as I am chef de crepe in the Monkeyhouse, I cook savoury things for her (and always join in with the first............) but then switch to the 'correct' filling for the subsequent ones..............

mmmmm..........could pancakes with 'correct' filling be considered to be a sensible 'low-calorie' meal for a couple who are struggling to shed a third person between them weight-wise ?

Please be gentle with your answers................:o)

Erm, I guess they could monkeyeyes if you were sensible about eating them i.e. making them your meal and only having one or two? Unlike me who has my dinner and follows it with about five pancakes with "correct" fillings.
