I've only ever tasted them when they have been offered by a 'friend'. It always feels like they are playing a practical joke and have, in fact, given me a minature Persil washing tablet.
Ooooh, I LOVE them! Especially the jumbo size ones you get. Yum!!!!!
Are you sure that the jumbo size ones are NOT ordinary sized Persil tablets?

Jills.....you are a sad indiviidual.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
As a thorough scientific test, I just ate one Parma Violet followed by one Persil washing tablet. I preferred the washing tablet. This proves that 100% of those tested either think that Parma Violets are disgusting and should not be inflicted on even the worst members of the general public or that they think Persil washing tablets taste scrumptious.
Bravo to IndieSinger for providing a well-balanced, scientific perspective to the table. By way of thanks you will find a handy, pocket sized stomach pump winging its way to you in the post.
They're weird! It's the same as rose or lavender flavoured things - it's not natural!
Theyre lovely and sweet mmm
They are delish & bring back happy memories of childhood!
They are the most disgusting things I have ever put in my mouth and have never managed to eat a whole one without rushing to the bin to spit them out.
Thanks pigface, I'll need it for the Parma Violets.

I decided what I did before wasn't a fair test, because they both do different jobs. So I washed my whites with a couple of Parma Violets and it didn't make them clean.

This is conclusive proof that Parma Violets are both vomit-inducing and unhelpful.

they are minging
Parma violet is an anagram of I LOVE A TRAMP. Oh sorry...wrong category ;-)
What the dickens is a Parma violet? I've never heard of them.
They came in packets like this, they were made by Swizzels-Matlow and were a spin off of their "Fruit Fizzers". Fruit Fizzers were like little tiny Refreshers, all different colours and "flavours". They then gave the purple ones (the ones categorically nobody liked) their own packet and called them "Scuzzy-Tasting Shit Fizzers". They were swiftly renamed as "Parma Violets", although they never actually sold any.
They did, however, employ jills, sexy_bef69 and smudge to work for them, promoting them as "edible" to a gullible public.

And they don't get stains out of your laundry either.
Indie, have you not got much to do at present?? I love parma violets, also rose and violet creams.
Whooaa!! Refreshers! That brings back memories! They must have evolved in the last 25 years without me noticing...
IndieSinger I think you're a hoopy frood, although part of me expects that you may not nknow what a hoopy frood is, due to you being not old enough to have absorbed the important popular culture of the early 1980s.
LOL at loads of the posts here...good question. I do love Parma Violets, as I've already confessed, and do you know, when I took the jumbo ones in to work, there were always at least 3 or 4 people who were delighted, and used to ask where I got them etc, as they wanted to buy more, loved them when younger etc etc. So hey, Smudge and sexy_bef69...we are not alone!xx
LOL:) I don't think I've seen anything so funnny on AB in my life..... I have to agree though, Parma Violets are deeply wrong!
