What do you eat with cauliflower cheese? Is it meant to be a meal in itself, or is it an accompaniment to something else?

Delicious on its own or served up with a meal as a vegetable dish .Either way is nice .
Hi Karen - You can add it to sunday roast, without the gravy of course! xxx
I suppose it could be either. I normally have it on its own with a nice crusty baguette
If you have any leftovers (or simply fancy a change) you can throw it in a blender and make it into soup.
If it's too thick, dilute it with a bit of milk.
You could add slices of boiled potato to it as well and make it into a gratin.
Something that will complement it perfectly - chilled cherry tomatoes.

I had this last night with fried chicken, potatoes mashed with cream and sweetcorn.
I think it goes well with gammon steak and grilled tomato. My sister does all her veg in cheese sauce so that the kids will eat them - e.g carrots and peas, green beans, sweetcorn etc.
I like it with smoked haddock and green beans.
If you are having it on its own splash Worcester sauce over it and eat it with hot buttered toast.

Yummy!
It's lovely with cold ham or bacon

Thanks everyone! I wasn't expecting such an avalanche of quick answers!

I've got a veg box delivery containing cauliflower and I usually put it into a veggie curry/dhal so wanted to do something different. It all sounds yummy!
i use it as a topping on cottage pie instead of mashed potato. just whizz the cauli up in the pan with a hand whizzer, throw in some grated cheese and give it a good stir, then spread it over the mince and shove it in the oven for about 20 minutes. i sometimes put broccolli in with it too, depends on what i have in that needs using up.
To make it up into a more complete meal, I add other vegetables - brocolli (lightly steamed, like the cauli), sautd onions, mushrooms, red peppers, leeks (all sliced or chopped) etc and then pour a well flavoured cheese sauce over the top. You could also add a few interesting spices to these veg whilst sauting them - eg mustard seeds, smoked paprika, black pepper - which adds a nice little *kick* to the finished dish. I think my favourite bits to go with this are mashed potato and simply boiled sweetcorn or petit pois... oh dear, I want that for dinner tonight now !
i always have it with roast pork and roast potatoes - or add toasted breadcrumbs on it to make a 'bake' type thing!
Caulifllower cheese with grilled pork belly
rashers ...and grilled toms... try it ..
I sometimes make it with bacon and leeks and have it with a roast chicken, mash and gravy
I usually serve it with fried liver and mashed potatoes....mmmmmmmm
Chips
I like to serve it covered with rashers of crispy grilled bacon.

I also serve it topped with fried onions, mushrooms, peppers and bacon.
