personally I'd chuck it straight in the bin!
It's an aquired taste really .Round here we call it pork cheese and my butcher makes his own and it's very tasty You can slice it and have it with salad and new potatoes ..lovely on a bit of fresh crusty bread with a good shake of pepper and some mayo . Or in thin bread with tomatoes ..Nice cut into chunks in a warm potato salad too.

used to have it at my grandparents as a child - didnt know you could still get it! we used to have a 'lump' of it on a plate with lots of salt, old fashioned mustard made from colemans mustard powder and milk mixed up and dry bread its making my mouth water thinking about it! dont think it would fit in with todays healthy eating somehow!

In a village near me they have an annual brawn making contest. it's proper brawn and bears no resemblance to the supermarket stuff. After the judging we all tuck in to brawn with salad. Yum.
mrthe loves brawn and I did once make it ...
but it's a lot of work ...also I hate the stuff ..
so it was a labour of love !!! He had it with
a salad and crusty bread ....
no,sorry,never.
Delicious stuff! There's a butcher in Carnlough NI who makes his own and it's sooooooooo good. Either in a sandwich or with a salad. Unfortunately I never get it home to eat it either way as described -- it disappears eaten on its own in the car and is long gone by the time I make it home!!!!!1
