Depends on the type of apple, all can be stored but some types such as the bramley, not only keep well but seem to improve with keeping. Check your apples for damage and store in cardboard boxes, somewhere dry cool and dark. When I was a kid my gran always used straw to seperate the apples but I tend to wrap them individually in old news paper. Russets keep really well and despite the fact that they they tend to look ugly but they are in my opinion the best eating apple you can get

i currently have them in the fridge, is this a bad idea then?
maybe this posting is too late for your question but we picked some bramley apples a few weeks ago & I sliced them, plunged them into a bowl of water with added lemon juice to stop them from browning, drained them & put them on baking trays in a single layer (used silicone baking paper on the trays). Once frozen I put them into freezer bags & they are now free flow so I can take as many out as I want each time. worked well for me. good luck
