cheap meat never tastes the same and you would probably end up catching an std. Go high class all the way
The amount of gas used for cooking is negligible compared to that used for heating. I cook with gas every day (but I've got electric heating). My last gas bill was for around 6 for 3 months, so that's only about 50p per week. I might save a few pence on my gas bill by buying decent steak, rather than Tesco's 'Value' mince but I'd put my weekly food bill up from around a tenner per week to a figure many times that.

Gas/ Elec what's the difference??? It's all astronomical so eat whatever you enjoy!
Surely cheaper cuts of meat would be tougher and therefore require more cooking and thus more gas.
This a a conundrum I have been puzzling with - I cook a lot of traditional meals that take a long time to cook: brisket; casseroles; stews..

You can cut costs by cooking in larger quantities - it is the same cooking time - and freezing the surplus; or using a slow cooker.
