Slow Cooker - 20 hours cooking?
34 Answers
If I switch my slow cooker on a low setting tonight when I'm going to bed (about 10 p.m.), will it be OK to stay like that for my dinner tomorrow night (about 6 p.m.). It's stewing steak and veg I'll be bunging in.
I'm a nightmare in the morning as it is, I highly doubt I'll remember to switch it on before I leave for work, hence my idea to do it as I'm going to bed the night before.
Thanks

No Nats, I don't have a drink until I'm in the office.
Chuck, there was one left in the house by the previous owner and I have absolutely no idea how to use it LOL.

Yes :o)
I prepared everything and it's gently bubbling away right now, I was even left with time to organise my packed lunch (I was too tired to do it last night) and I put a load of washing in the machine and set it to start at 3pm, so it's just finishing it's final spin when I get home.
I can assure you I'm not normally that organised in the morning and will probably be a long time before I am again LOL.

Sorry 4get, I didn't see you there :o)
Well, there's heaps and heaps of stuff you can do, google crock pot or slow cooker recipes for ideas.
This morning, I just bunged 1lb of stewing steak in along with a load of frozen veg, made up some gravy and switched it on to a low heat. It will be done when I get home, the meat tender, the flavour of the veg fused in the thickened gravy.

I got a slow cooker for Xmas too and did my first meal on sunday which was a great success - it was chicken with tarragon and lemon gravy. I browned a chicken in a pan, then put it in the slow cooker and covered with lemon juice, lemon zest and tarragon and ooked on low for 4 hours, it was delicious. Tomorrow I am attempting spag bol; i usually do it from scratch in a pan anyway so will be interesting to see how it turns out.
4get, do you not like herbs or you have never cooked with them? I have a box of cornflour that has probably gone out of date by now I have had it so long but I still use it, it's handy to have in the cupboard.
