Have just had a straw poll in the office and we seem to be divided about 50/50.

I like my steak merely warmed through - blue I think they call it - and a number of others like it rare.

However, I was surprised to find that 50% liked it well done - which as far as I can tell is like chewing on old shoe leather.

Would be interested to see the split of users on this site.

I like mine well done. It only goes leather like if it's slow cooked. If it's done over flame or tenderised prior to cooking it's fine. Nothing like a bit of charred steak! I used to prefer a bit of fillet, but discovered rump has much more flavour if you can be arsed dissecting the fat out. Oh, and there's got to be mushrooms onions and French mustard! How sad am I...
Well-done all the time. I hate seeing pinky/reddyness- it just plain looks raw. Plus its safer to have meat cooked all the way, bacteria and all that. Why do people not seem to care about that?
I like mine rare there seems to be more flavour.  The problem of bacteria is for minced meat when there is more surface area for bacteria to breed
