Not sure where to post this but...

Does anyone know why the Hungry Horse / Turnpike pub in High Wycombe closed down?

Cheers

They're owned by Greene King and the same happened in Colchester a couple of years ago - the reason tends to be that the land is worth more than the pub and the brewery can sell the site to a house or flat developer. pubs are struggling these days and its an easy way to bring in some cash.
It was in the BFP that the land's been sold to build flats on - shame eh? They're gonna do the same with the Red Lion at the Marsh.
A quick update for you - according to the BFP this morning, there will also be a Tesco Express on that site. Bang go the little shops at the Turnpike.
