We have had a Tower 6 litre Easy Chef for seven/eight years after using another make for twenty -odd years.
The Tower has never worked properly, leaks steam around the lid despite all efforts to close it correctly. My wife is ready to ditch it, due to the fact that it doesn't seem to work. We only use it three or four times a year.Yhe original cooker -Prestige,I think, was fautless. Can't make this one work at all well, any suggestions? All bits are present and correct, seal is undamaged.

The time to have complained was immediately you found it was not working correctly. After 7/8 years you have no comeback on the seller/manufacturer.

If it does not work bin it and buy a nother one.
I had this problem but solved it when:

1. don't store the rubber seal inside the cooker - keep it separately. It gives the seal a chance to expand again, therefore fitting/sealing better when used.

2. before using it, place the seal in the freezer for 5 mins or in the fridge for a little longer

shouldn't have any more problems - if this doesn't work, then you'll need to get a new ring.
No help to you, I have one of these, but have never used it for pressure cooking, which inherently makes me nervous. It does however make a brilliant huge saucepan for conventional cooking of large batches of curry or bolognaise.
I LOVE my prestige pressure cooker!!!!
I have a 2 hour each way commute to work everyday, so i was finding myself too knackered to cook proper meals, and we were eating lots of junk instead.

My OH boiught me my prestige, and now its soooooo easy to make decent home cooked meals in a jiffy. Its been amazing.
Chicken Chasseur in 20 minutes, Risotto in 10 minutes, Thai Fish curry in 10 minutes. All things i just wouldnt have been able to face/manage slaving over for an hour or two before.
Brilliant!! Total convert me!

Thank you all for taking the time to read and answer;even if the answer didn't help much-apart from Jack Daniels, thank you for that, and the other three, well-- thanks!!
I'll take Jacks tip onboard, thanks Jack:-)
i have a tower pressure cooker!
I have had for about four years and use it loads!

Please don't throw it away - the seal has probably gone that's all.
You can get a new one dirctly from tower for about a fiver including postage.

Please note: they sell lots of spare parts for the cookers, but only direct from them. They do NOT sell to anyone else. (I know this after buying 2 seals that were sold to me as "compatible" and they definitely were not.)
I'll just go and get you the number........

crisgal,
Thanks, obviously, I thought about the seal, it looks perfect, and like I said, it's hardly used. I'm a former engineer type, and used to seals and stuff, will go for a new one, couldn't find one in diy shops, that's why, on line job !
Ta again.
Hi haway

please let me know how you get on with the tips & if they make a difference.

chinadog - like to know how you get on too
I made a stew yesterday following "Sirs" instructions beforehand. Perfect ta Jack:-)))
i can't find the number anywhere, but I'm still looking!

My husband recently bought a prestige pressure "curry" pan. That didn't work but had been in the shop a long time. He replaced the seal and it works fine. What I mean is, it was brand new and looked ok. He wasn't sure it was that until he tried the new one.
Right, I'm off to bury my head in the filing cabinet.........it's in here somewhere!
