Milk in tea or Coffee

Who thought of putting milk in tea, or coffee? I was asked this by a child and I didn;t have a clue.

Vitamins and their importance were discovered in Victorian times, and doctors recommended that for vitamins A and D, people should drink milk. The majority of adults didn't like it, so they added it to to tea and coffee to disguise the taste.

I dont use milk in any drink. But love cheese and yoghurts. Very weird to me to put milk into drinks that were traditionally taken black. But I suppose that rancid yak butter is worse.
