..after taking part in God v Atheist and Monarchy v Republicans debates today I've decided to ask the biggy..

Who likes Marmite?

Absolutely adore it - in fact I am now off to make some toast and marmite, mmmm.  It's a staple food in our household.

A friend of ours from abroad who had only ever had Vegemite, spread our Marmite thick on his toast, bit into it and ran out of the room to spit it out.  He hadn't reckoned on it being as strong.  Vegemite and Marmite are different.

Marmite and dairylea on toast, marmite and cheese sandwich, marmite and cheese on toast, marmite everywhere! Mmmmm. Why don't Pret sell Marmite sandwiches? Vegemite is good too tho, but you have to spread more vegemite to get the taste and it's thicker like a paste. Vegemite jars don't last as long as marmite.

I used to absoloutly hate the stuff when i was younger until i had some once when i was hungover,my mate made me some and i took one look at it and nearly spewed, but i didn't have the guts to say anything so i just munched it, now i love the stuff. Defintely a love/hate thing you cannot just like it!

I prefer Vegemite myself. Do you think marmite tastes like twiglets? Curry twiglets are nice.

Not weird Lobster, I don't like twiglets either.  I don't think they taste like Marmite.

A recently opened  upper class restaurant  in my town has boiled egg and marmite soldiers (the soldiers being Aga toasted!) on their breakfast menu, and they go down a bomb! Yummy!

It's 2.18am on Thursday morning and I can't sleep.  I am just about to go and make some more toast and Marmite to see if that helps.

In Australia, Vegimite is similar to marmite, and was mentioned in the 80'* *** Down Under by Men Without Hats.  My useless piece of trivia for the day

Vinny100, I don't think there is an American equivalent.  Or at least, if there is I don't know about it.

 

It's not a paste, but I loooove brewer's yeast, especially on fresh popcorn.  Seems like it's maybe a similar taste.

Twiglets are great too, they're one of the best pub snacks around. Try them with a beer!

I've only moved to the UK recently, before that I was in the land of Vegemite (horrible stuff)
