my friend had this for her tea last night. She got it from asda. It had a very strange flavour with a peculiar after taste.
I've never heard of it and it's not in my fish encyclopedia.
has anyone else had it? is it supposed to taste like that?

You can buy it in Tesco. My wife and I have been eating it more or less weekly for the last couple of years.
A teaspoonfull of rape seed oil in the frying pan.....cook fillets for about 2 minutes each side. Wonderful !
Sorry for the delay, only just seen your question, They sell it smoked in Tesco ,on the fresh counter, and it poaches lovely. Nice and solid, we prefer it to s/haddock or s/cod is wonderful with rice and eggs as a kedgeree of with broccoli asparague etc. If you like smoked black halibut ,you'll love this.
