Iceland beef casserole in red wine

I bought this yesterday for todays dinner. When cooked it was swimming in fat, so much so I didn't even taste it. OH said tasted it. Shall we eat out today.

No we didn't. I made Spag Bol with lean steak mince and opened a bottle of wine while it cooked. I think buying ready cooked meals to save time is a waste of money. Unless you know different. But I bet i do it again. I think the answer is don't shop when you are hungry.

I got lamb shanks in red wine in a vacuum bag from Farmfoods and was dubious, but they were delicious and not greasy!

Your home made dinner sounds much nicer than the Iceland offering. Trouble is, I think a lot of ready mades are so full of salt they can't be good for you

You are more than likely right Lardy, but I must admit i do put salt on my food. I cook most things from scratch. Now and again I just want to buy it then put it in the oven. a mistake I know. Then I say never again, until the next time. The next time is usually about 6 weeks.

I wouldn`t rate them any higher than anywhere else but I had money off coupons, so my daughter and UI went and stocked up and the lamb shanks were delish!
