We get duck eggs from a neighbour quite often, and like you were a bit dubious about them.
When people say they are "strong" they really mean they have a very distinct egg taste, more than say hens eggs.
To try them we first made them into an omelette, and after that as soft boiled, fried, and poached eggs.
If you are doubtful (as you must be) I would try an omelette as the first way.
I remember having the occasional duck egg for breakfast as a child. Many years later I was passing a market stall where they were on sale so bought one. I had it soft boiled for breakfast the next day and it was delicious and very filling. Only problem was I could still taste it 2 days later. They are lovely, but very strong-tasting.
God tambo I've only got a small back garden, the neighbours would go quackers if they made a lot of noise. Think I know what you mean about the plastic if they are strong the texture will be stronger too?
oooooooooooohhhhh lovely used to love duck eggs just treat them the way you would with hens eggs but a bit longer cooking time, such a rich flavour!!!!!!! yummy :)
