can i use jam sugar for chutney?

i want to make a rhubarb and ginger chutney, but bought jam sugar by mistake - will it matter?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.You're okay to use jam sugar!! it'll 'set' better - keep ot covered overnight, preferably with a clean teatowel, if you use a lid and there's any heat left in you'll get condensation and it'll be runny. Make sure you sterilise the jars, and put them in a warm oven for a few mins before potting up your chutney, top with a cellophane disc and label. Good luck!!
