Mushroom sauce

Went for a meal yesterday and OH had a mushroom sauce with his steak.I have now been given the challenge of making one.Small problem-I HATE MUSHROOMS so I cannot/will not taste it.All he said was it was mushrroomy(everhelpful eh?)It looked liked mushed mushrooms to me,but can anyone help with a thick sauce that they think is delicious?

Simply melt about 1/2 stick of butter in a heavy pan and add about a cup of Worcestershire, salt to taste and, of course, the thickly sliced mushrooms (we like portabellos). Some of our family also like sliced onions, but I'd rather forgo those.
If one wants a little thicker 'sauce', simply add about 1/2 teaspoon of flour stirred into 1/2 cup cold water, added to the mushroom mixture a little at a time. Simmer until the steaks are ready. Let each person add the amount they wish....
Finish with freshly ground pepper to taste...

Or you could buy a tin of Campbells condensed mushroom soup but don't dilute and use that - just add a few more chopped mushrooms and season.. voila..It's what I use when I make a big chick and mushroom pie I fry fresh chick and onions season add the undiluted soup put in a pie dish line and cover with puff pastry and bake,....
