Yesterday i was really sick, i vomited everywhere and i now have diarrhea, but it's wearing off a little bit. I found out i had to starve for 12 hours so i do not feed the bug inside me, i have not eaten anything in 2 days, is it OK to eat more, i am just paranoid that ill be sick again and make it worse?
Best to listen to your body. If you want to eat it probably means you`re on the mend so a little light food might not go amis (lay off the fruit and anything acidic)
I had D&V a few months back and I didn't eat anything, only drank plain water for two full days. Not very nice but you just know when your digestive system is completely empty.... (Great way to lose 5 lbs but not recommended). You will know when you feel like eating, don't force it, as long as you are drinking you will be fine. I tried some porridge after 12 hours and it came back up, I was able to eat normally again on the third day.
Boiled eggs and toast.Soup but not creamy ones, jacket potato with beans or other fillings that are not fatty, omelette, basically any light meals avoiding dairy products and if they stay down then you should be ok. keep the fluids up too.
Patsyann - you can't eat an omelette and avoid dairy products at the same time! I would steer clear of beans until you feel completely well again ( knowing how beans can make you "go"!) I would keep it very simple to start with - plain bics or toast - and increase the range if you stay ok. If you feel rubbish, have a word with practice nurse at surgery.
My mum always used to test us with a roast chicken white bread sandwich, always worked for me as it was light yet satisfying. No frills, just plain old chicken (well not too old obviously)and plastic white bread, bit of marge and that was it.
I still like them nowdays......childhood memories-food just tasted better then.
I often get "bugs" in the tum due to IBS and other digestive probs.
I don't starve myself as I am on meds for various things that need to be taken with food.
I find toast with a VERY light speading of marg and a little marmite go down (and stay down) well, washed down with a chicken oxo drink.
