Fresh instead of tinned cherry tomatoes - what weight to use?

I have a recipe that requires 400g tinned cherry tomatoes but I couldn't find these in my local Tesco so I bought fresh cherry tomatoes instead. Can anyone advise what weight I should use? I can't decide if I think I need more or less by using them fresh!

I would buy 400g of fresh cherry tomatoes. The contents of a tin may well include the juice, but would not have thought that the really exact weight of tomatoes is critical.

i'd use about the same weight. is an average size punnet of cherry tomatoes about the same weight as a tin because that's what i would use. never seen a tin of them myself. what are you making?

It's a recipe for crispy chicken legs with butter beans, cherry tomatoes and pancetta. I'll try 400g fresh and if it doesn't seem quite right I can adjust it next time I suppose.

I echo everyone else-sounds delish.

Fresh tomatoes are lovely to use in dishes as they become sweeter the longer they cook.

I always have tinned tho as back up-a necessary in every cupboard.

just been looking around and it seems waitrose sell tinned cherry tomatoes - you learn something every day! think fresh ones would be even better though.
have found the recipe on bbc good food website, looks delicious bushbaby, will be interested to know what you think of it.

The recipe was super yummy, highly recommended. We had it with a couple of roasted potatoes and green beans and are both thoroughly full of food!
