Soda water was originally made by adding sodium bicarbonate to lemonades and the reaction between the citric acid and the bicarb prduced carbonation of the water. Nowadays soda water has become a general term for carbonated waters. But many soda waters are not just carbonated water but also contain a small amount of Sodium Bicarbonate.
