Halogen ovens.

Does anyone have a halogen oven? If so, I just wondered if they do brown a chicken and make crisp chips and crisp skinned baked potatoes as the makers claim.

Of course - as above - you will find others here replying that they are the finest thing since sliced bread. However, my advice is, "Don't bother!" The bulb/element seems to be especially vulnerable, judging by stories about these things, but it is not a case of just buying a bulb and popping it into a socket. It is not something the owner can do...unless, I...

i have only ever had this one
http://www.amazon.co....qid=1291534735&sr=1-1
so can`t comment on others, but im more than happy with it, the only downside i have found is that maybe one with a hinged lid may be a bit easier to use as lid is quite heavy, so that may be worth bearing in mind. I also bought the extender ring pack
http://www.amazon.co....c_glance_kh_ai_-1_t_1 which i think is worth having a look at as its been very useful :-)

I bought one and it came with part of the plastic base, weighing about three ounces, broken through. Did I just have to send that back? Oh, no! I had to repack the entire thing and send it all. Fair enough, I got a replacement and was just getting used to and enjoying cooking with it, when the bulb/element blew. I decided to return it and ask for my money back. Clearly, these things are of low quality for one reason or another, as the price nowadays (under £30.00?) would suggest.
If you're a gamblin' guy/gal, go for it, but my advice if you do is...don't throw the packaging away! I finally invested in a Remoska, a much sturdier and more reliable device. They're quite a bit more expensive, but well worth it, I feel.
