Extra Oxygenated Water

There are bottles of water for sale which claim to have extra oxygen. The chemical formula for water is "H2O".  If extra oxygen is added, surely it cannot be water as the oxygen would have more elements than the single unit of H2O.

Please explain.

The water has extra oxygen dissolved in it. That doesn't make it a different chemical compound.
otherwise it'd be H2O2 aka hydrogen peroxide. nasty stuff
Just means it's oxygenated, ie contains H2O and O. Similare to what you need to do to the water for tropical fish.

Loosehead, you mean it is 'H2O with O2 dissolved in it. Atomic oxygen doesn't remain as single atoms for very long !!

And they are of no benefit whatsoever except for the retailer / manufacturer who can probably charge a higher price for it. Why buy water when you can get it out of the tap?
more oxygen (sorry, 02) is better for you, but through your lungs.
