My friend has just came back from france and told me of the deep underground basements which spiral underneath the city of paris and houses hundreds of thousands of different cheeses of the highest quality due to the perfect conditions unseen anywhere else on earth and I just wondered Have any of you been to the "Le métro chambre de la mille mortelles fromages" in paris near the Champs-Élysées in paris and if so what was your experience like there?

Factor30 I'm what you could call a massive cheese fan with limited cheese experience as I've only just came into the "cheese game" as it were and hope to travel the world one day on a cheese adventure tasting cheeses from all around the world and keeping a blog as to spread the knowledge and my experiences so I'm not really a cheese expert but I am partial to stilton and brie
Well, I have been in the catacombs of Paris, and whilst they DO stretch a long way you wouldn't want to store cheese there.
Its damp
mouldy
has human remains
no natural or artificial lighting.
Above all just what good would this fictious chambre do for the cheese when the best cheese is "chambred" on the farm where it is made.
Personally Msr Jacques I think you are the big(stinky) cheese around here, and you are overipe and time for finishing off!
oh-so sorreeeee....can't find the accent mark....so Trolle it stays.....

Redhelen but it's the fact that you're in a secret place with likeminded people doing something that most will never even think about let alone do. A great experience and I will upload a video when I finally do go to show those tat don't believe that these places exist.
There is a 'Cheese Room' but tis called that because of the table there - search for it and you'll find some photos too
