Saturday. All is calm and serene outside, 13ºC. Lovely. We are told it will rain today. I have the Cotswold Canals Trust AGM today, so must be away at 7, to pick up my mate at 8, so that we can go to Stroud Farmer's Market first. There is one particular stall I want to visit, it's run by a lovely lady who, with her husband, grow their own mushrooms, all sorts of mushrooms, They will be picking and packing them as I type, they don't come any fresher than that! They are the best I've come across since I used to pick them when I was knee high to a grasshopper. I have a dinner party Tuesday, my lovely new next door neighbours, and I want to impress them. I shall be using portobello's as a starter, and some smaller types, creamed, with pork steaks cooked in cider, with a jacket potato with cheese, apple crumble with fresh custard for pud.
Good morning not able to sleep so instead of disturbing GranddadG I thought that I would get up and see if anyone else was awake The wind is blowing a hooligan up here in t'north. Your menu sounds delicious as to the mushrooms. GranddadG has made some devilled kidneys for breakfast. An old navy recipe I think he puts mushrooms in but not sure. I don't have them as I can't stand kidneys one of the few foods that I don't like. They weren't called devilled kidneys in the mob Everything had a different name even the sailors.
Good Morning. It's fairly mild out there. I've just put the bins out (only the light ones)
We're going to go for a little drive today so I can get some fresh air. Might stop for a spot of lunch at the pub on the canal and bring some goodies for the ducks :-)
Afternoon oz. You don't need one mate, just let me know you're coming. :o}
Morning GG xxx Nice to see you.
the same in the army, nothing was referred to by it's real name. Deviled kidneys. Lovely.
Some of the mushrooms I shall chop finely. put them in a pan with some cider, and let them soften, add a bit of fresh ground black pepper and some double cream. That will go on top of the cheese in the potato. Works a treat.
