Can you make soup in a halogen oven??

I am making a large quantity of chicken and vegetable soup and wondered if its possible to do this in a halogen oven ?? Any feedback would be great.

Would it not be easier to make the soup on the hob using large pots?

Yeah I usually do it that way, but recently bought a JML halogen oven and wondered if anyone had made soup in one ?

Yes, I think it would be possible. I do all sorts of things in mine.

I make soup in a large pressure cooker and my Dad makes his in a slow-cooker....so give the halogen a try. Do you not get some sort of recipe book with it?

No, just a pamphlet with a couple of recipe suggestions. Time to fess up, I made it in a slow cooker after all that ! I had to go out for three hours so darent leave a halogen oven on when not at home. It turned out lovely anyway, hubby had two bowls when he came in from work, that was before his tea ! I am hoping it boosts my immune system as I have been ill for over a month with a chest infection, then the flu ! Its got five types of veg in it so has to be good for me. Gonna keep eating it as theres a few days worth to get through. I would reccomend making soup yourself, it tastes amazing.

yes it does taste amazing but the prolonged cooking will destroy some of the vitamins, full of fibre and lovely though.

You would think so, but we took some to work today for lunch, and even when re-heated the little bits of veg were quite al dente shall we say, not soft or mushy.The rest of the people in the office went out to get soup as ours smelled the whole place out, and it made them all fancy some !! Going to try making a smooth tomato soup next....
