So wonderfully chewy, gooey and chocolaty, chocolate brownies are a favourite amongst children and adults alike. This is a great recipe to make with friends or children, it is fun, simple and everyone will be eagerly waiting for the final result.
Chocolate brownies are perfect for nearly all occasions. Great with a cup of coffee, or during playtime with milk and even better as a dessert and part of a monstrous ice-cream brownie Sunday. So whether you are making a lunch box treat, snacks for a girly night in or a gorgeous dinner party dessert, brownies always go down well.
Ingredients
- 200g dark chocolate, at least 70% cocoa solid
- 125g unsalted butter, softened
- 225g sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 140g plain flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C or gas mark 4.
- Line a 30cm x 22cm pan with foil.
- Melt the chocolate in a heat proof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water.
- While the chocolate is melting, mix the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the whole eggs and yolk and blend well.
- Stir in the chocolate.
- Sift the flour with the baking powder and salt. Fold into the mixture
- Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin. Bake for 20-25 minutes, (if you leave it too long it will become more like a chocolate sponge).
- Leave to cool in the pan, and then cut into squares.
