I would like to thank Dotty and Craft 1948 for all your hard work, you seem to have got so much further than I have and I have been looking on and off for years and have got very dishearted, How do I go about getting certificates etc.or checking out marriages etc
Question Author
You say you can't find a marriage, perhaps (dare I say) that they were living in 'sin'
judy you say that you think the certificate you have is wrong do the DOB details not tie in with your fathers birthday? Please could you tell me the father's occupation on that certificate.
Question Author
hi craft1948 the occupation of the father on the certificate I have is Cab driver. But as I said the address seem wrong or am I being stupid. The mother on this certificate is Sarah Bult or Belt or Bielt or Balt or something similar
-- answer removed --
So everything on the certificate ties in with the family on the 1901 census except for the child's name. Birth certificate shows father as Arthur George and a Cabman, and mother as Sarah.........weird.
Judy when and where did your father die?
yes it was sarah bult as far as i can establish, who I also guess is the sarah elesha on the baptosm of the arthur george baptised ay islington in may 1901. I have found a sarah bult in Islington on the 1891 aged 15 and that ties in with the age of the sarah on the 1901 with the son frank as she was aged 25. but there does not seem to be a marriage in the gro index for an arthur (george) taylor marrying a sarah bult, in any RD. Nor can craft locate the family you have on that 1901 census for hercules rd on the 1911, also odd. nor is there a birth registration for an arthur george in the right RD for the one on the baptism except the one you already have the birth cert for, but there isnlt a birth registration for the Frank either, even though his marriage can be located in the index.
Question Author
In answer to craft question my father died 10th January 1979 in West Drayton in the borough of Hillingdon.
In answer to Dotty I think is just a mystery that cannot be solved.
Thanks again for all your help both of you.
Your fathers death entry gives a birth date of 6 March 1901.
I have looked right through the national registers for Frank Taylors born in 1900/1901 in Lambeth and could find only 2. Frank Edwin Taylor was born Q2 1901 and Frank Clements Taylor was born Q4 1900.
I can find Frank Clement's family on the 1901 census but I can't find Frank Edwin's............
Question Author
Yes craft date of birth was 6th March 1901.
Question Author
I seems that what you both have said that perhaps Arthur and Sarah changed their minds about the childs (my dads) name before he was christened.
can someone else look at the baptism I found, the date of birth was written in by the vicar under the childs name, it reads as March 1st to me, it's on ancestry.

London, England, Births and Baptisms, 1813-1906 London, England, Births and Baptisms, 1813-1906
Name: Arthur George Taylor
Record Type: Baptism
Estimated Birth Date: abt 1901
Baptism Date: 22 May 1901
Father's Name: Arthur George Taylor
Mother's Name: Sarah Elesha Taylor
Parish or Poor Law Union: Battle Bridge All Saints
Borough: Islington
but the certificate you have gives a birth date of 1st March?
there is an arthur george taylor born edmonton london 1903 father albert taylor who emigrated to canada in 1919, he had been a shop assistant and went to canada permanently to work in the harvesting, that eliminates one of them!
I'm with Rosebud on this (I think). The child was born the first week in March and put on the census as Frank S on 31/03/1901, then registered in April and christened in May as Arthur George.................what do you think dotty?
well there was the marriage you found for the Frank, but then it may be a diferent one, and where are they on the 1911? Everything else works for me though.
Well the father's name and occupation fits, and the address fits. The Frank's wedding was in someone's tree on ancestry but not much else. Also there is definitely no Frank S born in Lambeth 1900/1901.
