To confirm they have the right link from mabel wilson to jack wilson, (and bearing in mind that suna says this is a 'travelling ' family), can someone please look at the 1911 for the Sunderland area for a Jack and Elizbeth wilson with a daughter Mabel born around 1901 and a younger daughter Grace Ann born 1903 ? Jack was born 1877 we think in sunderland. TIA.

Rose I think possibly there is a Grace born 1903 and a mabel born 1901ish somewhere on the 1911 but they may not have Elizabeth as their mother, this is not a simple one at all, maybe they were a reavelling family at some point, the George and Frances certainly weren't though.
I've spent 2 hours looking but can't find a thing.........
Do we know for sure that Grace Ann was born a Wilson? Or could she have had another surname in 1911, which became Wilson (officially or otherwise) before she married ?
I have made a list of all the Grace Anns born in Yorkshire in the Jun quarter and the September quarter (in case the birth wsn't registered in June), following the earlier post where it says she was born in Richmond. Checked 1911 for the list - no Grace had a sister Mabel of the right age.

There was even a birth in Sep 1903 Tadcaster for a Grace Annie Unknown.

Do we know where Mabel was born?
On her death certificate its say when and were born: 11 June 1903 Richmond north Yorkshire. there is no evidence on that entry in Richmond i think the informant may have something wrong
Her name is Grace Ann Wilson
Question Author
she should still appear on the 1911 though, even the gypsy families were recorded.
My uncle has told me he believe grace Ann Wilson and mabel's wilson's mother is marry longthorne but not 100% sure
My uncle believe grace Wilson was born in Catterick Camp in richmond NY. And Jack Wilson was a horse dealer.
Dotty, if you want info about Houghton le spring births and deaths go to Houghton Heritage site. The guy who runs it, Paul Langan is excellent at finding info and is based up here so has access to all sorts of info. Good luck
Sorry for butting in Dotty didnt realize you were trying to help someone else. Should have read the post properly
