it has a Family Tree Builder, is it worth looking at? I'm a bit edgy since downloading a virus a few months ago. I wondered if it was any good for searching.

I'm sure it will be fine ayg..................I build my trees on ancestry. I bought some tree building software from ancestry and it was rubbish so if it's free go for it.

Thanks craft it won't hurt to have a look I suppose. Not having a lot of success with the familysearch site though, I have three family members I think that need to be linked up somewhere. I had been using ancestry, but I can only go so far unless I pay to see more, so frustrating. I think I'll have to cough up before long. Thanks for your help yesterday btw I will add the extra marriages to the tree. Amazing.
If you post a throw away email addy I will write to you and help if I can......
Wheres the link address gran?
If you are looking for a FREE program to enter all your F.H. details, AYG, then have a look at the Latter Day Saints program (Personal Ancestral File)
I've used it for years and wouldn't use anything else.
For searching BMD's and Censuses I have been using The Genealogist which seems to be more reasonable than other places.
Marmite!
(i.e. you either love it or loathe it)

http://www.myheritage...d-family-tree-builder trt that's the link but it's not very interesting, ok to build your tree if you already have the info and lots of space to post photos- but see what you think;
Craft try [email protected].
Wak ive tried the family history site as far as I can but I'm getting to the stage where I think I need to see more info (at a price). I'll try genaeology and the other one CHris mentioned, in for a penny -- thanks all.
I just convert my tree on ancestry to GEDCOM and download it then upload the GEDCOM to my Family Tree Maker siftware it's perfect
Question Author
I was afraid to ask what gedcom was dotty. I will have to look at doing that.
You must need it for the MY Heritage surely?

Question Author
GEDCOM Is that why the little leaves wave about on the ancestry site when you have a match on your tree? Tell you I'm non too bright with all those acronyms. I'll try out what you say dotty.
if you have a tree on ancestry you just click onto your tree and where it says manage tree click on that and it opens the download page for GEDCOM files
Question Author
Thanks dotty
The best free site is Rootschat. you ask the question, and experienced researchers try to answer them.I have found them exremely helpful.....Thanks to them, I now actually have a photo of my great, great grandfather's gravestone, kindly supplied by someone who has taken the trouble to photograph all the gravestones in Swinton churchyard, Yorkshire.
This site is perfectly safe.....no gremlins!
Question Author
Thanks margaretta I'll give that one a try.
Hi ayg............I emailed that address you gave but it came back 'undeliverable'.
is 'undeliverable' a real word craft? what provider is that?
BT..............
Question Author
try again craft, all lower case and the dot between the name (o2.co.uk). ttfn usually gets through on that one.
Margaretta thanks again I got a great result within half an hour of signing on to rootschat, about a Canadian gt.uncle who died in WW1.
I copied and pasted exactly what you typed ayg...............it still won't have it :-(
