For those of you that have been trying to help Suna with his research, seriously, everything that has been explained in here is virtually correct, Grace Anne Flynn did indeed have a very unusual and complicated life. Chambers was my paternal grandmother, Annie Gertrude Chambers, who, with her husband John Chambers, were Matron and Master of Pickering workhouse at 5 Whitby Road. However, my grandfather died on 9 April 1922 as a result of injuries sustained in the war. Thereafter, the Pickering Union established a children's home at 18 Hall Garth (or Hallgarth), Pickering. In 1924, the home could accommodate 12 children with Mrs A.G. Chambers as Superintendent.
